My Question

How has 21st century fashion been impacted by faux animal products?

When choosing a question for my dissertation I needed to think about how topical the subject was and how interesting it was for me. Fashion catwalks and shows have been really influential in my work and helped me to understand the story behind the garment. In 21st century fashion designers and consumers have really changed and enhanced their views on materials and their sustainability. A huge part of this is the use of animal products such as leather and fur.

I have chosen to look into the use of faux animal products in fashion collections and how they compare to the garments of designers who still use real animal products.

There is a huge stigma around fur and leather being used in fashion due to animal rights activists believing animals should not be breed and used for fashion. Designers and consumers have a range of opinions which have become stronger during the 21st century.

I will post a bibliography at the end of the blog.
